MI at work

You've seen what MI can do, and you teach it well to traditional audiences of client-facing providers. Leaders and managers are a different room. 

The approach that works with clients doesn't land the same way. Leaders and managers operate from positions of authority where they have to balance engagement with boundaries and consequences. 

The evidence is clear: MI has a lot to offer leaders and organizations when we offer MI differently. Rebranding clinical training doesn't work. The people you teach deserve instruction built for their world.

How it works

I work with practitioners to help them translate their expertise with MI instruction for leaders and organizations. 

I offer training on how to adapt MI instruction to the needs and constraints of a workplace. This acknowledges that MI isn’t the only answer and draws on other approaches that work from the same ethical foundation. You'll build the foundation to teach this well in settings that clinical training didn't prepare you for.

I also offer 1:1 consultation to help you work new modes of instruction in your own contexts, adapting what you know and building confidence in what’s new.

Format:

  • Available in-person or virtually.

  • Preferred virtual format: a series of short sessions (90-120 minutes each) with time in between to implement.

  • In-person engagements are structured around comparable instructional hours.
